Anupam Kher takes an auto ride, heads for Shiv Shastri Balboa premiere. Watch | Bollywood
Actor Anupam Kher is currently in the national capital as he is promoting his new film, Shiv Shastri Balboa. On Sunday afternoon, he was headed for the premiere show of his film. The heavy traffic jam in Delhi forced him to take a ride in an autorickshaw. (Also read: As Anupam Kher praises Kangana Ranaut, she calls him a ‘strong and secure man’)
After Anupam got down from the auto, he shook hands with the driver before heading for the movie at Connaught Place. Shiv Shastri Balboa also features Neena Gupta, Nargis Fakhri, and Sharib Hashmi in important roles.
Earlier on Saturday, the actor spoke about his film and having his own face prominently featured on a movie poster and much more during a press conference. He said that the film is not about cliches around senior citizens.
“Shiv Shastri Balboa is not a cliche. It is not about a senior citizen trying to find his peace and calm. This is not a man going ‘please listen to my story’. No. He runs away from his home in a night suit to ensure Neena’s character reaches the airport. Shiv Shastri Balboa is a spice of life, not slice of life,” Anupam added.
He also said that people will identify with the characters in Shiv Shastri Balboa. “When we watch films, we often watch it like someone else’s story. But with this one, I assure you everyone will identify with one or the other character.”
Reminded about Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai in which Anupam played the role of an old man scaling the heights of mountains, Anupam said he does not categorise himself as a senior citizen. “I do not categorise myself as a senior citizen. I have been lucky that the audience has accepted such stories, we could do nothing without their support.”
Talking about having a movie poster for himself after decades of working in the industry, Anupam said, “After 38 years I have a poster for myself, and I say this with pride, not regret.”
He added jokingly, “That body on the poster is not mine. I must thank you all for thinking that could be me. Let me add that by the grace of God, my body is similar.”
