Athiya Shetty wore designer kalire with Sanskrit vows for wedding with KL Rahul | Bollywood

Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul married on January 23 at her father Suniel Shetty‘s lavish Khandala home. Apart from wearing stunning designer outfits for her wedding and pre-wedding functions, the bride also wore unique kalire (bridal jewellery worn by Hindu brides around their wrists) for their dreamy nuptials. Athiya’s out-of-the-box bridal kalire were inspired by wedding vows, which were engraved in Sanskrit on sun and sunflower trinkets. Sharing close-up images of Athiya Shetty‘s kalire from the wedding day, her stylist Ami Patel wrote in her Instagram caption, “The saptapadi – the seven vows of marriage taken around the fire as witness. So were Athiya’s kalire charms. The seven vows engraved in Sanskrit on the sun and little sunflowers embellished on the kaliras made them so charming and special. Kalire by Mrinalini Chandra.”

The jewellery designer, too, took to Instagram to share a series of images and videos of Athiya’s bridal accessory. She said the kalire were handcrafted by karigars (artisans) of Jaipur and Lucknow. Giving a glimpse of the kalire, which also featured a trinket engraved with Athiya and KL Rahul’s wedding date, Mrinalini wrote in her caption, “We loved making the bespoke eternity vows kalire for the beautiful Athiya Shetty. It was an absolute joyride creating this dainty and elegant work of art, handcrafted by the veteran karigars of Jaipur and Lucknow. Saptpadi wedding vows Are beautifully Hand etched in Sanskrit on sun motifs preserving these vows are for eternity. Over 50 tiny handcrafted sunflowers dancing around sunshine, manifesting the joyous union of the happy couple.”

Athiya, who made her Bollywood debut with Hero (2015), and cricketer KL Rahul dated for many years. Their recent wedding celebrations were full of love, fun, laughter and designer outfits. For their wedding ceremony on January 23, Athiya wore an embroidered pink lehenga by fashion designer Anamika Khanna. Since then, the couple has been sharing pictures from their wedding celebrations. Recently, actor Suniel Shetty, the father of the new bride, as well as Athiya’s brother, actor Ahan Shetty, too, had shared some photos giving a glimpse of the wedding festivities.
