Looking for the most popular games in 2023? According to Futbin.com, an online resource for FIFA Ultimate Team gamers, the most popular video game of the year is “Hogwarts Legacy” — based on Google Search volume from the past 12 months in nearly 90 countries around the world, including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Brazil and much more.
Released back in February, “Hogwarts Legacy” — which sold more than 12 million copies within its first two weeks — launched for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
And during Prime Day at Amazon, the game is on sale for $54.99, or $15 off, for PS5, as well as $41.59, or $28.40 off, for Xbox Series X. It also goes for $59.99 for PS4 and $49.99, or $10 off, for Xbox One.

The team at Futbin crunched the numbers used Google Keyword Planner. They found that the average monthly searches was highest in the U.S., while Germany and United Kingdom came in with the second and third most searches — respectively.
In addition, the second most popular game of the year, based on Google Search, is the remake of 2005’s “Resident Evil 4.” The zombie survivalist game was released for PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series X/S back in March. And rounding out the top spots are “EA Sports FC 24” (FIFA 24), “Atomic Heart,” the upcoming “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” for PS5, “Diablo 4” and others.

As for the game itself, “Hogwarts Legacy” is a role-playing action game where you play as a new student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Scotland. Set during the late 19th century (about 100 years before the events in the Harry Potter series), you learn magical abilities from your professors and fellow students, while you later go on a journey to find an ancient secret that’s hidden deep in the Wizarding World.
Meanwhile, “Hogwarts Legacy” is slated for release for the Nintendo Switch on November 14. It’s available for pre-order at $54.99 at Amazon.
